Dichroic glass was actually invented by NASA and the aerospace industry, for use in satellites and the visors on spacesuits. It contains numerous layers of ultra thin metal oxides (including silver, gold, titanium, aluminum, and many others) that are vaporized and then condensed on the surface of the glass. This process produces a fantastic display of colors, that are never exactly reproduced. As a result, many jewelers have now begun using dicroic glass to make wonderful and unique designs. Diego Valladares works hard to find the most unusual and eye catching combination of colors. He sets the dicroic glass pieces in Sterling Silver in Taxco, Mexico, to add even more rich luster to his jewelry. We find his work to be a great conversation piece, and a bright addition to any jewelry collection. This particular piece includes beautiful shades of blue, teal, orange/gold and a little bit of pink.Approximate Measurements: 1 1/4" high x 1" wideArtist: Diego Valladares, Mexico
