Availability: In stock

This lady of the night figurine is exciting third generation work from the famous Aguilar Family of Ocotlan, Oaxaca, Mexico! Josefina Aguilar, as well as her three sisters, learned this craft from her mother, the world renowned Isaura Aguilar. Now as Josefina has unfortunately lost her eyesight, her daughter Leticia Garcia Aguilar is taking over the lead role in preserving the traditions of her mother, and her grandmother before her. Leticia has won numerous awards for her work, and is looked at within the family as the new torch bearer of these important traditions.

Modern interpretations of clay figurines inspired by daily life. These are from a line of figurines depicting ladies of the night, practitioners of the world's oldest profession. A little scandalous, buts tons of fun! These will definitely stand out in your collection. Traditionally the clay figures of the Aguilar Family depict market women, selling their wares at the weekly markets. But once in awhile they branch out to do humorous representations such as these ladies of the night. We love them!
