We fell in love with the work of Rene Xuana as soon as we saw it the very first time. Rene Xuana is part of the famous Xuana Family of San Martin Tilcajete. He is a notably skilled wood carver who has a great sense of both whimsy and reality in his carvings. His wife Rudbelia is an expert painter who does fine work with so much precision. It is a pleasure for us to be able to share their work with you! I watched Rene carving a bull out of one piece of copal wood, and became an instant fan! With my second purchase I received these incredible coiled snakes, and fell in love all over again. The degree of precision and difficulty in Rene's work is just outstanding. I love the sense of movement in this piece, along with the coiled body, the cool tail, and the precision in the painting. The tongue is removable for safe shipping, and the piece was signed by the artists.
