Miriham Gallegos is one of the most inspirational women that I know.. a fine artist and an exemplary person! Miriham was at the top of our list to visit on our first trip to Mata Ortiz, and one of the principal motivations for our trip. Unfortunately on that occasion, Miriham was in Phoenix undergoing treatment for cancer. She fought hard and made much progress, and is now back home creating her very fine pottery. She is a fine example of overcoming the obstacles that life puts in our path, and a beautiful strong example for her children.
As we are major fans of miniature precision work, Miriham's pottery really calls to us. This particular pot is no exception. Finely detailed with small cuadritos (squares) and geometric patterns that are traditional to her family, and done with such incredible precision! This gorgeous Museum Quality work is just simply awe inspiring! And we just love the leaf and stem lid on top that completes this miniature apple! This piece is signed by the artist. A pottery display ring will be provided at no additional cost.
