Exciting third generation work from the famous Aguilar Family of Ocotlan, Oaxaca, Mexico! Josefina Aguilar, as well as her three sisters, learned this craft from her mother, the world renowned Isaura Aguilar. Now as Josefina has unfortunately lost her eyesight, her daughter Leticia Garcia Aguilar is taking over the lead role in preserving the traditions of her mother, and her grandmother before her. Leticia has won numerous awards for her work, and is looked at within the family as the new torch bearer of these important traditions.
This vision of Frida portrays her in the Tehuana style dress that she was so fond of, with traditional braids tied with a bright blue ribbon, a black and yellow huipil and skirt, along with a pink rebozo (or shawl) around her shoulders. The look is capped off with traditional chunky gold jewelry. Perfection!
