  1. Taxco .925 Sterling Silver Citlal Castillo Silver Wrapped Cuff Bracelet
    $195.00
Stunning cuff bracelet with the weight of the vintage silver designs. Unique, bold and modern! The bracelet is crafted of the highest quality sterling silver from Taxco, Mexico. In my humble opinion.. the best silver around! The design is then crafted by wrapping thick silver strands around the surface of the cuff. Citlal Castillo's uncles were fortunate to study under William Spratling, and her mother was a well known fashion designer. Citlal combines the knowledge of both sides of her family to create gorgeous and unique sterling silver pieces. This cuff is not pliable, so not adjustable in size. Learn More
  2. Mata Ortiz Pottery Tati Ortiz Highly Polished Black On Black Precision Cuadricula Squares With Red Accent Paint Pot
    $150.00
Tati Ortiz is the son of world famous Master Potter Macario Ortiz of Mata Ortiz, Mexico. He strives to keep the traditions of his father and other family members alive, while taking his own unique spin on the design of his pottery. As a young man, Tati won the Galardon (or Best in Show award) several years back at the annual juried pottery contest in Mata Ortiz. This greatly encouraged Tati to contunue perfecting his craft. His work has a beautiful elegance about it, and contains a high degree difficulty in his designs. This highly polished black piece is done with both black and colored paints, and features an intricate pattern of hard to achieve squares formed in the traditional cuadritos pattern. These small cuadricula squares are executed with near perfection, while painting with long strands of human hair. Gorgeous! We love the beauty of traditions being handed down within families, and the cooperative spirit that you find within family artist workshops throughout Mexico. It is what has always drawn us to these art forms. This pot is signed by the artist, and a pottery display ring will be provided at no extra charge. Learn More

  6. Mata Ortiz Pottery Angel Amaya Matrimony Wedding Pot
    $75.00
Angel Amaya is another of the artists who just consistently captures our attention. His pottery is so unique in the village, and always draws us in. He is a potter from the Barrio Porvenir section of town, who has established his own readily identifiable design style. The pottery is fired to a brilliant deep terracotta brown color, and combined with fine detailed white paint designs in patterns reflecting an appreciation of the traditional styles. This may be in part because he learned to paint from Juan Quezada's sister Consolacion, and her son Mauro. Angel Amaya is featured on page 82 of the famous book that became the go to written documentary of Mata Ortiz and the earlier pottery families.. "The Many Faces of Mata Ortiz". To this day, you will see collectors traveling the village, book in hand, to obtain the autograph of the potters featured in this wonderful book. The combination of colors is just outstanding, and the technique involved is masterful. The earthy qualities remind us of the land that it comes from, as the clay is dug locally, and the masterful white painting sets it apart from others. We love the legends surrounded the traditional use of the matrimony wedding pots. According to local lore these pots were used in wedding ceremonies to symbolize the union of the two families. Water from each family's house would be combined in the pot, then the bride and groom would each drink out of either size of the pot. The mixture of the water would symbolize the union of both houses through the marriage. Beautiful! The piece is signed by the artist. Learn More
